Heres a quick method to work out how many solar panels you need although households will vary
1. Determine Your Daily Energy Usage
Find your daily energy consumption (in kWh) by dividing your monthly usage by 30.
2. Estimate the Output of One Solar Panel
Assume each 400W panel generates about 1.6 kWh per day (based on 4 hours of sunlight per day).
3. Calculate the Number of Panels Needed
Use the formula:
Panels needed=Daily consumption / Panel output per day
So for a home using 10kwh a day , divide this by 1.6 = 6.25 solar panels needed.
Too heavy maths? Heres some rule of thumb scenarios
2 bed House : 6 Panels
3 bed House : 10 panels
4 Bed house : 14 panels
5 Bed house: 18 Panels
