Types of EV charger - Tethered or not?

Luckily, there is only one type of EV charge point for homes nowadays and its a type 2 charger.  The main question is whether you want a tethered charger which comes with a permanently attached charging cable that is integrated into the charging station or a non tethered charger  that does not have a fixed cable; instead, users need to bring their own charging cable to plug into the charger’s socket.

Our approach is focused on understanding your needs and providing practical solutions.  There are advantages and disadvantages to both types, our summary is that;

  • Tethered = Cable is attached to the charging station; more convenient but less flexible.

  • Non-Tethered =No cable attached; more flexible but requires users to have their own cable.
